Brian Setzer’s signature Gretsch guitar models played a massive role in the 1990’s in reviving Gretsch’s reputation and and promoting the new line of Japanese made guitars.
As front man to the Rock n Roll band The Stray Cats, Setzer had led a Rockabilly revival in the 1980’s playing his 1959 Gretsch Chet Atkins 6120. In the 1990’s, Setzer started a swing band and the Brian Setzer Orchestra lad a new wave of interest in big band music with their remake of Jump, Jive an Wall.
Gretsch jumped on the band wagon and produced another signature guitar model in 1994 based his vintage 6120. The Brian Setzer hot Rod followed 1999 and feature a vintage style trestle top bracing along with such with spec from Setzer as over size sound holes, locking tuners and custom wound humbuckers pickups. This all came in a variety of fun Gretsch colours including, Lime Gold, Purple and Tangerine.
