Fender Stratocaster HSS Vintage Style Wiring Harness with 5-way Switch

To fit models with a Humbucker in the Bridge 2 single coil pickups. in Middle and Neck Position.

This pre-wired Fender Stratocaster HSS Vintage Wiring Harness with 5 Way Switch is designed for replacing old electrics or upgrading the electronics of imported models or for use on DIY Kits. We take a massive amount of care and attention when putting our Fender Stratocaster HSS harnesses together. Everything is fully tested before being posted to you.

This is a Professional Stratocaster wiring harness using the very best in components to enhance the quality of tone and sound output from your guitar.

The Harness is wired the same way as a Stratocaster 5 way harness, but with two differences. This wiring harness uses 500k pots and includes 2 x 470k resistors wired inline with the single coils to step down the pot to 250k. This will tame the high frequencies to keep with a more traditional Stratocaster tone.

Components
Premium 500k CTS Potentiometers x 3, split shaft with Vintage Audio Taper.
CRL USA 5 way lever switch.
Switchcraft Jack Socket.
Capacitor / Sprague Orange Drop, Size 0.047uF.
RS PRO 470k Carbon Film Resistor x 2.
Gavitt USA made cloth covered 22AWG wire.
Tinned-copper “buss” ground wire.
Jack Socket and Pots supplied with Nut, Flat Washer & Locking Star Washer.

Treble Bleed Option
A Treble Bleed takes the high treble tone frequencies out of the circuit at the volume pot and puts them back in the circuit as the signal leaves the volume pot. The result is a smoothed out treble and a more uniform tone from 1 to 10. Reducing the treble drop out as the volume pot rolls off. If you like the idea of retaining treble as you roll your volume pot down, then a treble bleed is for you.

Controls
Master Volume control.
Tone 1 – Neck pickup adjustment only.
Tone 2 – Middle pickup adjustment.

Switching
Position 1 – Bridge pickup with volume adjustment only.
Position 2 – Bridge pickup with middle pickup in parallel with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 3 – Middle pickup with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 4 – Middle pickup with neck pickup in parallel with volume and tone adjustment.
Position 5 – Neck pickup with volume and tone adjustment.

Will this fit my guitar?
Our pre-wired Fender Stratocaster HSS Wiring vintage harness is wired to fit genuine Fender USA or Mexican control plates. If installing into an imported model or a DIY guitar kit you will need to ensure the Potentiometer holes on the Pickguard will take CTS pots (approx 10mm). This can be done using a round file or carefully with a 10mm drill.

Centre to centre measurements between components
Centre of Switch to volume pot – 48mm.
Centre of volume pot to centre of tone pot 1 – 45mm.
Centre of tone pot 1 to tone pot 2 – 45mm.
These measurements were taken from a USA / Mexican Fender Stratocaster pickguard.

The Stratocaster HSS wiring harness is one of the more simple harnesses to fit with 9 wires to solder, 3 x ground and 3 hot wires from the pickups and 1 ground and 1 hot going to the jack and the ground wire from the bridge. All ground wires go to the back of the Volume Potentiometer and the pickup hot wires go to the 3 in a line, unused lugs on the 5 way switch. There is sometimes an additional ground wire from the body which you will need to solder to the back of the Volume Potentiometer.
